'Thin-slicing' in La Loire...getting a feel for where we're at...
By Tim, October 15th 2017
After Cherbourg, we took in St.Malo briefly - beautiful but a bit 'touristic' for us. Angers and Tours - both really lovely middle-sized university cities with a great feel that got a big tick for us. And here we are in the gorgeous town of Azay-le-Rideau in The Loire. But how do you make sense of...
so much input on the fly?
How to do justice to places we whizz through on this trip, without a being stuck with a superficial appreciation of some truly amazing places – and people?
Good old Google is of course useful in this respect, allowing us to accumulate useful stuff in advance – which may then determine a location’s inclusion or not on our route. One in these places, asking folks in cafés, shops, Airbnb hosts, Estate Agents (and folks on Brexit Escape Facebook groups!) are sure-fire ways.
But 'Thin-slicing' works for us - how we can pick up visual clues that match our own...what? Programming? Mental tick lists? Hmm.
